More Yakuza PC ports could happen, according to producer

The announcement of the Yakuza Remastered Collection for PS4 raises the question of whether something similar will be released for PC. Just like Sony’s console in the West, the PC only received Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Now, the series’ producer is hinting that more Yakuza PC ports could happen.

This news surfaced in a recent interview by VG247 with producer Daisuke Sato. The interview mostly touches on the recently announced collection, and what it took for Sega to come up with it. However, along the way, the question of whether or not the complete Yakuza series could eventually be ported to PC is brought up.

Sato responded to the question by stating that he couldn’t make any specific comment about bringing more Yakuza to PC at the moment. However, he also mentioned that Sega could possibly bring the series to the platform in the future.

“I wouldn’t say it won’t ever happen,” stated Sato.

As for the recently revealed Yakuza Remastered Collection, Sato explained that he would have liked to have been able to release it sooner. He specifically pointed out how Western fans got to play the series in the wrong order, with Yakuza 6 coming out in this side of the world before Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5. That said, he stated that he’s also just happy that fans in the West can now finally experience the latter three.

Of course, Sato also touched on the upcoming new Yakuza game that’s set to introduce a new series protagonist. He specifically mentioned that his team is putting a lot of effort to make sure that fans who haven’t played the previous Yakuza games. That said, he’s also making sure that there are things in the new game that will make it more enjoyable for fans who’ve played the previous entries in the series.
