President Todd Hollenshead Leaves After 17 Years At id Software

After 17 years with the makers of Doom, Rage, Wolfenstein and other beloved PC-shooter franchises, Todd Hollenshead has left his position as President of id Software.

Bethesda spokesman Pete Hines confirmed the news with IGN stating that "After many years with the studio, Todd Hollenshead decided to leave id Software to pursue other personal interests." Hines continued to say that Hollenshead was not working on any development teams at id, but that "he was an integral part of id Software's success as the business head of the studio and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

id has had other bumps in its journey to release Doom 4, including a restart after Rage 2 was shelved and the original version of Doom 4 "did not exhibit the quality and excitement that id and Bethesda intend to deliver."

Hollenshead originally joined id in 1996, 13 years before Zenimax and Bethesda purchased the studio. The effect of Hollenshead's departure on QuakeCon is not yet known.
