Microsoft Denies Xbox One Anti-Used Game Reports, Asks Consumers To Keep Waiting

While gamers everywhere continue to scratch their heads over some of the finer details, Larry Hyrb, aka Major Nelson, has issued a statement on Xbox One's treatment of second-hand games. OK, this should be good. We've been waiting for clarification on this since rumors first started to appear online in the absence of official word from Microsoft on Xbox One.

The ability to trade in and resell games is important to gamers and to Xbox. Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games. Reports about our policies for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incomplete. We will disclose more information in the near future.

Mmmm, how 'bout right now? Really, where's the struggle on this point? Xbox One will either let users share their games with friends, trade their games in for other games, or it won't. I also love how Microsoft pokes everyone in the media in the eye with a big stick (maybe with poop on the tip), stating that the very words that came from Xbox executives (and the people who reported those words) are "inaccurate and incomplete."

There was no way Microsoft was going to get out of HASHTAGXboxReveal without defining the reality surrounding issues brought up by anonymous sources (like the rumored and sorta-kinda confirmed always-online requirement). The fact is they simply don't know. They hope consumers will wait patiently and swallow the information they're given on Microsoft's schedule.

Xbox One isn't a guessing game. It's a product. Just tell us about the damn box and how we're supposed to use it so that we don't break your precious fucking license agreement and get the full force of your legal team up our asses. Does anyone at Microsoft think this news is going to sound better if Usher is crooning it to us on-stage in LA?
