Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 gameplay

E3 2019 | New Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 gameplay revealed

At the PC Gaming Show at E3 2019, Paradox revealed the latest Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 gameplay trailer, giving us a better look at the open world setting of the game: the vampire-infested Seattle. The eagerly anticipated Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is due out in Q1 2020, and other than a few short videos there hasn’t been much actual gameplay released for Bloodlines 2 so far. This trailer gives our best look at the game’s version of Seattle, some new athletic vampire skills, and a few characters from the game, including someone who looked a lot like Benedict Cumberbatch.

The player takes on the role of a newly-created “Thinblood” vampire, a basic type who was created in a “mass embrace” and isn’t even allied to any of the game’s major vampire clans, who is going through what writer Cara Ellison describes as “vampire puberty.” The developers took to the stage at the PC Gaming Show to describe a few of the possible powers you’ll get in the game, including the ability to “see” the emotional ranges of human beings, which you can basically suck out of your victims by feeding directly on them.

Vampire Bloodlines 2 is the sequel to 2005’s Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, which didn’t hit a massive audience due to having a lot of bugs and releasing alongside Half-Life 2. It was created by Troika, who were made up of ex-Black Isle (Fallout, Planescape Torment) and Obsidian developers. The original Bloodlines has gained a cult following over the years, players who (despite the bugs) appreciate the game’s attempt to create a vampire immersive sim RPG like Deus Ex. The original game’s writer Brian Mitsoda is the lead writer on Bloodlines 2, and it’s being developed by Hardsuit Labs, creators of Blacklight: Retribution.

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 will be released on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in Q1 2020, with a rumored release date of March 31.
