At E3 2019, Bethesda announced a new action-adventure game called GhostWire: Tokyo. The newest game from Tango Gameworks, the developers behind The Evil Within, revolves around supernatural entities and mysterious disappearances. People are vanishing into thin air, leaving only their clothes behind. The disappearances occur indiscriminately and without warning. Players must find out why the people of Tokyo are vanishing and find a solution to save humanity from a terrible fate.
Tango Gameworks is famous for its work on The Evil Within. It was founded in 2010 by former Capcom employee Shinji Mikami. Mikami is perhaps most well known for his work on the Resident Evil franchise, which may lend itself well to the spookier elements of GhostWire: Tokyo. With masters of horror at the helm, it’s difficult to imagine the game won’t be heavily influenced by the genre. The elements of psychological thrillers are abundant in the reveal trailer, showing skeletal creatures and frightening demons strolling through Tokyo in the place of humanity. However, the strange demons aren’t the only ones with a hint of the supernatural about them. You will have your own spectral abilities as well to aid you in your search for truth.
While Tango Gameworks is known for horror, the reveal show placed a lot of emphasis on GhostWire: Tokyo being an action-adventure game first and foremost. It won’t be clear-cut survival horror, but certainly has elements to keep players on their toes.
Uncover conspiracies, encounter the occult, and explore the world to uncover the truth behind the terrible power attacking humanity. You will meet spirits that will either help or hinder you in your quest to uncover the truth. Avoid the evil spirits, befriend the friendly ones, and keep your wits about you to put an end to the attacks on humans. Watch the trailer below!
