Gears Tactics missing

Why was Gears Tactics missing from E3 2019?

The Gears Tactics release date was unfortunately not announced during the Microsoft E3 2019 conference. In fact, despite fan expectations for a release date reveal alongside a brand new gameplay trailer, there was zero mention of the Gears of War tactics for neither PC and Xbox One. While Gears 5 was given the release date and trailer experience, along with some new multiplayer details, there

Set 12 years before the events of the first game, Tactics will task players with hunting down the “master monster maker” who becomes responsible for the destruction of major cities. First revealed during E3 2019, where developer The Coalition’s studio head Rod Fergusson took to the Xbox stage, Gears Tactics was first announced as a PC exclusive title. However, this has been changed to now include Xbox One.

While the initial reveal trailer provided a sneak peek at the combat, with first-person sniper shots being mixed in with turret-wielding COG soldiers, fans were no doubt hoping for a more comprehensive look at this year’s E3. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case, with absolutely no time dedicated to covering the game on the Microsoft E3 2019 stage.

Looking like a combination of XCOM and Halo Wars, Gears of Wars fans should be hyped to have both Tactics and Gears 5 on the horizon. It’s just a shame that we don’t have that Gears Tactics release date to pair nicely with Gears 5‘s September 10 launch date.

Gears Tactics‘ turn-based combat and character-driven story should eventually launch, but unfortunately Microsoft’s E3 2019 conference didn’t give us the info of exactly when!

If you’re feeling down about the lack of a Gears Tactics our release date reveal, check out Xbox E3 2019 highlights, which include the Cyberpunk 2077 release date, an inexplicable Blair Witch game, and Elden Ring. (We’ve also chucked in some lowlights, as Gears Tactics‘ absence wasn’t the only disappointment.)
