Marvel’s Avengers game release date and gameplay trailer revealed by Square Enix

The Marvel’s Avengers game by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal got a release date reveal at the Square Enix 2019 E3 conference. We hadn’t seen much more from the game other than a teaser trailer, so a Marvel’s Avengers release date and a gameplay trailer was a pleasant surprise.

Details from a leak just before E3 have been confirmed. The Marvel’s Avengers game is a single-player and co-op action adventure with RPG elements. Up to four players can team up to fight together, and heroes can be customized with different powers and costumes.

We also know now that this is an original story that exists outside the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans don’t reprise their roles from the movies. This means that there’s no holds barred and this game’s version of the Avengers could end up doing anything or fighting any enemy without having to pay attention to established lore. The trailer featured the team of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow.

We should hear more about the gameplay of Marvel’s Avengers later this week. A showcase later this week will feature the developers from Crystal Dynamics and the Marvel Games creative team talking about the game.

You can play Marvel’s Avengers on May 15, 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
