City of Brass free

City of Brass is the next free game on the Epic Games Store

You can now get City of Brass free on the Epic Games Store. As you probably know by now, the Epic Games Store has been giving away free games like hotcakes for its inaugural year. The Epic Mega Sale (which is still very much in progress) took things up a notch by increasing the pace to one free game being made available every week. This week’s game has finally been announced, and it’s Uppercut Games’ City of Brass.

On the off chance that you’ve missed City of Brass, it’s got a hell of a pedigree — Uppercut Games features developers who previously worked on Bioshock and Bioshock 2. After working for years making hand-crafted levels, they had wanted to try their hand at using procedural generation in their next game. The result is City of Brass, the newest game that you can get gratis courtesy of Epic Games.

In City of Brass, players take on the role of a thief in a world that’s themed heavily around Arabian Nights. Once you pick up City of Brass free, you’ll be able to jump right into diving into these procedurally-generated levels, dodging traps and fighting enemies in a first-person roguelite experience. If you can manage to avoid getting your head sliced off by a swinging blade, you’ll get your hands on a pile of shiny treasure. It’s a simple concept, but the practiced hands of ex-Bioshock devs have made it into an entertaining game with a lot of polish.

You can grab City of Brass free on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, June 6, 2019. After that, it will no longer be available for the tantalizing price of zero dollars as it will be replaced by noio and Raw Fury’s Kingdom New Lands. Don’t forget that you can still save a few bucks otherwise in the Epic Mega Sale — it ends on June 13, 2019.
