During this morning's Nintendo Direct press conference, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata shared a few new additional details regarding New Super Luigi U, the DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U. Many people probably assumed that accompanying Luigi would be a Toad or two or three, and that is true; Blue Toad and Yellow Toad will tag along with Luigi. However, a new character will also travel with Luigi and the Toads—Nabbit.
Nabbit is a character from New Super Mario Bros. U who randomly appeared throughout after robbing Toad's house. Mario would have to chase him all over the levels to retrieve Toad's belongings. Now Nabbit is teaming up with Luigi, and while he has the same running and jumping abilities as everyone else, he can't collect power-ups or items. However, Nabbit can't be hurt by enemies either. In other words, Nintendo has created the perfect character for people who are terrible at platforming games, like me.
New Super Luigi U will be available for download on June 20th, but for those who don't already own NSMBU or don't have a strong Internet connection, there's another way you can snag this game. Nintendo will release a standalone retail copy of the game on August 25th for just $10 more ($29.99).
