Nigel Farage milkshake thrower was wearing a Street Fighter t-shirt

The man arrested for throwing a milkshake at UK politician Nigel Farage was wearing a Street Fighter ‘Choose Your Fighter’ t-shirt. The incident took place in Newcastle, following a speech Farage had delivered in the city ahead of the European elections.

Video footage emerged of 32-year-old Paul Crowther from Throckley, Newcastle, approaching Farage with a milkshake in hand. As Farage moved to pass Crowther, the Street Fighter fan halted (a real-life dash cancel) before throwing a Five Guys banana and salted caramel milkshake at the former UKIP leader. Police promptly pulled Farage away from the milkshake thrower, as a bystander could be heard shouting “not again!”

According to the BBC, Crowther noted that he was “quite looking forward” to drinking the Five Guys milkshake, but that he thinks it “went on a better purpose.” He said that he had no regrets in regards to his actions, and denied an allegation that someone was cut during the milkshake throwing. No Shyrokens were thrown, only milky Hadoukens.

Video footage of the incident can be viewed below. The milkshake is thrown at around the 40-second mark:

Tweeting after the incident, Farage said: “Sadly some remainers have become radicalised, to the extent that normal campaigning is becoming impossible. For a civilised democracy to work you need the losers consent, politicians not accepting the referendum result have led us to this.”

This is the latest in a string of milkshake incidents against right-wing politicians. Recently, UKIP’s Carl Benjamin — more commonly known online as the YouTuber Sargon of Akkad — was doused in milkshake after his rape “jokes” against MP Jess Phillips. Former English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson was also hit with milkshake in a video that swiftly went viral in the UK.

The milkshake protests are increasing as Britain heads towards the European Parliament elections later this week, amid a tumultuous political climate and the ever-looming Brexit.
