You didn't like Aliens: Colonial Marines? Too bad. It was successful and now the spirit of awful Aliens games will live on.
Sega's Q1 2013 financial report ending March 31st has revealed a surprising 1.3 million copies sold of Aliens: Colonial Marines, a game which has met a 44% average on Metacritic and had its Wii U port canceled.
While a few fans defended the game, it was regarded by most as a major disappointment that damaged the integrity of Gearbox Software. Its only excuse was that it was an Aliens game, something which has never been good.
On the plus side, Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, which was an excellent co-op racing game, sold around 1.3 million units across five platforms. Meanwhile, Football Manager 2013 sold 940k, London 2012: The Official Video Game pushed 680k, and Yakuza 5 managed 590k. The result is a decline of 2.1% year-over-year which was blamed on "the severe economic environment mainly in the U.S. and Europe".
