Sony has seen a lot of success in the past with re-releasing remastered versions of classic PlayStation 2 titles on the PlayStation 3. The first was the God of War Collection, which featured God of War and God of War 2, and was released in preparation for God of War 3's release on the PS3.
Since then, many other publishers have joined Sony in bringing remastered PS2 classics to the PS3. But now, it's the PSP's turn.
Sony has announced the "PSP Remaster" series of games. The first PSP title to be remastered in HD for the PlayStation 3, will be Capcom's super-successful (in Japan), Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
While most Americans prefer home console gaming, gaming on the go (just not the PSP go) is extremely popular over in the land of the rising sun. Week over week, the PlayStation Portable tops Japanese sales charts. The popularity has led to key Japanese franchises–such as Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and more–to be released on the PSP, not the PS3. Sony could be using the success of these portable titles to lure faithful Japanese users over to the PS3, by rereleasing them in HD.
You're probably wondering how well the graphics made for the PSP's tiny screen will translate to the PS3 and your HDTV. Have a look:
