Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Release Date Trailer

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Release Date Trailer is a love letter to Castlevania fans

The Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night release date trailer is here! This highly-anticipated video game from the people who brought you Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and other fine titles showcases several graphical improvements. It also cheekily pokes fun at the game’s producer Koji Igarashi, putting him in a suspiciously similar situation as Castlevania’s villain Dracula.

The trailer opens with a logo from the studio and then quickly segues into some gameplay. The gameplay looks a bit off compared to what we’ve seen so far, and it quickly becomes apparent that this is from a much older build of Bloodstained. The color fades from the screen and we begin to see a collection of comments from the Internet appear, each of which talks about the game’s look in a negative fashion. Finally, a Steam comment that says the game “looks like poop” is plopped smack dab in the middle of the screen.

The fine folks at Artplay seem to have taken that last comment to heart. Game producer (and longtime, legendary Castlevania alumnus) Koji Igarashi is then shown sitting at a fancy table while holding a wine glass, emulating one of the most meme-worthy scenes in Castlevania history. Igarashi-san shatters a wine glass and says “I will prove them wrong!” in Japanese.

The Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night release date trailer then transitions into showing us several graphical comparisons. Older gameplay footage is labled “Poop” (calling back to the final highlighted negative Internet comment), and newest gameplay footage is simply labled “New”. After the montage of footage completes, we get a card that shows the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night release date. The trailer closes with a pixel animation of Igarashi-san breaking a wine glass, once again calling back to the classic Castlevania meme.
