Rainbow Six esports series comes to Raleigh

The second-annual Rainbow Six esports series, Six Major, will bring the gunsmoke and bloodshed to Raleigh, North Carolina this Fall. Beginning August 12, 16 teams will come to battle for a chance to win a grand prize of $200,000. The total prize pool for the event is an astounding $500,000.

Participating teams will converge in Raleigh from across the world and spend one week vying for the grand prize. However, no team leaves empty-handed. The bottom four teams will still receive a purse of $5,000.

These teams are no strangers to competition. In order to rise to the challenge of Six Major, the teams had to fight to the top of qualifying leagues. Eight teams were Season IX Proleague Finalists, four were winners of open qualifiers around the world, and others came out ahead in competitions such as DreamHack Valencia and the Allied Esports Vegas Minor.

Interested in attending? While the entire series takes place from August 12-18, don’t go arranging hotels just yet! The only dates open to the public are August 16 and 18 (but wait, there’s more info coming). Along with the intense team competitions, Six Major promises its guests “will enjoy an immersive, fan-driven experience” during their time at the convention center.

Tickets are on sale now and will set you back $65. The ticket includes general admission to the event and an in-game charm to show off to your friends. Want more? Shell out $125 and you’ll receive not only general admission and the in-game charm, but premium seating close to the stage and a special goodie bag filled with exclusive merch and swag. Local hotels are getting in on the fun, with the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel offering discounted rooms to attendees (okay, time to claim your space).

More information will trickle out over the summer regarding the schedule, in-person events, and group stage breakdown.
