The challenging music/rhythm game Just Shapes and Beats has been the hands of Switch and PC owners for the past months. But now a Just Shapes and Beats PS4 version is coming soon. Players will be able to buy this port for $19.99 on May 10.
Berzerk Studio announced the forthcoming port over on the PlayStation Blog. But this won’t just be the same old version that other platforms got in the past. Instead, it’ll come with some special “Hardcore” ingredients.
The game features various stages filled with obstacles. These move along to the beat of a song, and it’s up to you to avoid them long enough to survive. That’s easier said than done, though, since they go all over the place. It’s tough, yes. But also probably best enjoyed with friends in the four-player mode.
Mike Ducarme, “wizard” of the studio, talked about the new additions.
“Every stage has been redesigned in some form or another to give you a whole new experience that will make even seasoned Souls-like players weep, longing for their mother’s warm embrace,” he said. In other words, it’s pretty tough.
But for those that can’t take on such an immense challenge, fret not. There will also be a Casual mode for you easygoing players.
“Don’t worry my dude, if you find the game to be a bit too much of a challenge for you, or your terrible-at-video-games friends, you can always enable the Casual mode while playing the story, that will give you… I mean your friends… a bit more of a fighting chance against the musical barrage. And if that wasn’t enough, we also have a Party mode that has no difficulty at all, if you just want to enjoy the music in the background,” explained Ducarme.
The update will also come to other platforms at a later time.
