Anthem Cataclysm delayed

Anthem Cataclysm event delayed

BioWare confirmed that it has delayed the first Anthem Cataclysm event. In addition to this, the company has delayed a number of other planned game features as well.

Lead producer Ben Irving and head of live services Chad Robertson announced the delays in a recent Reddit post. “While we have delivered many of the Act 1 features on time, we are not going to hit all the goals on our Act 1 Calendar,” they stated in the post. “We set aside time for this work, but the reality is there are more things to fix and improve than we planned for. While this is the best thing to do for the game, it means some items from the calendar will be delayed.”

Aside from the first Cataclysm event, the team has also delayed the mastery system, guilds, phase 2 of the legendary missions, weekly stronghold challenges, leaderboards, and some freeplay events.

BioWare had originally planned for some of the above items, such as leaderboards and stronghold challenges, to be released this April.  The team however hasn’t given out any more details on other items, such as the mastery system.

The limited time Cataclysms would have added new new enemies and made dramatic changes to the game world’s terrain and climate. Talking to Variety, executive producer Mark Darrah had compared them to Raids and Strikes from Destiny. He stated that would be shorter than the former, but longer than the latter.

With how the game currently stands, players don’t really have a lot to do in Anthem’s endgame. The first Cataclysm event would have gone a long way to address that. That said, Bioware is busy addressing some of the game’s other problems, such as its current loot system.

For fans eagerly awaiting them however, Irving and Robertson stated that Bioware would reveal more details about the first Cataclysm event in May.
