Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal to launch next year, will be an enhanced version

Persona 5 Royal will be coming to the West and Asia. The version is reportedly an enhanced version of the original Persona 5 game. The announcement came with a short reveal video. The video reveals the game’s logo as well as a broad release date of 2020.

Along with the announcement, a website for Persona 5 Royal was launched, inviting fans to sign up to a newsletter to receive updates about the upcoming re-release. Persona 5 Royal is described by Atlus as an “expanded re-release.” The updated version will include improved graphics for the PS4 Pro as well as UI improvements.

There’s a ton of updates for series enthusiasts too. Persona 5 Royal will feature a new opening and ending by Lyn along with new battle music by Meguro. The additions to the location and character lists include a new location called Kichijoji “which represents Tokyo.” A new main character is available named Kasumi Yoshizawa. Kasumi is a transfer student who joins the Phantom Thieves. A character named Takuto Maruki also joins the game. Takuto is a counselor at Shujin High who will act as a confidant for the player.

Rounding out the announced features, there will be a “new type of strong enemies” along with new events for Caroline and Justine. The game will also feature a human Morgana, new treasures in palaces, and assist commands during daily life.

Rumors about a “Persona 5 R” game emerged at the beginning of this year when Atlus revealed a short teaser. Atlus hasn’t only been teasing a console update of Persona 5. The Persona developer unveiled a teaser site for a game named Persona 5 S earlier this month. The game is rumored to be a Nintendo Switch version of Persona 5. The teaser site indicated an April 25 release date.

Persona 5 Royal is slated for release in 2020 on PS4.
