Square Enix E3 2019 conference takes Sony’s old timeslot

The Square Enix E3 2019 conference has been announced and there’s a bit of a surprise this time around — the longtime Japanese publisher of beloved RPGs and action games is taking Sony’s old timeslot for this year’s show. As always, Square Enix’s presentation will be livestreamed around the world for everyone who isn’t fortunate enough to make it to the show in person, although the timeslot might be a bit tough for the folks over in Europe.

The announcement on the company’s website states that the Square Enix E3 2019 conference has been scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2019, at 9 PM EST. A casual examination of last year’s schedule shows that Sony had occupied the final slot on Monday for E3 2018. However, Sony will not be attending this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo for the first time ever, leaving a big, juicy timeslot available for the taking. We can now say for sure that this timeslot will now be occupied by the Square Enix E3 2019 conference.

Several questions nonetheless remain about how exactly this conference will play out. Sony took up a good deal of space at last year’s show, so one wonders if Square Enix will be taking up the same amount of space or if it will somehow be divvied up between the other companies presenting their games. There is also, of course, the question of what exactly the company is going to be announcing at this year’s show. Rumors abound that both PlayStation and Microsoft will be announcing new consoles this year, and consoles need games for people to play.

We can’t say for sure what to expect at the Square Enix E3 2019 conference, but we know when it is; you’ll be able to watch it in person or live at E3 on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 9 PM EST. You can catch the livestream on Twitch or directly on Square Enix’s website.
