The latest issue of V-Jump has revealed when the next Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC character is coming. Kid Goku (GT) will arrive in the tag team anime fighter this May.
Kid Goku (GT) represents the first character from the divisive Dragon Ball GT anime series. This was first broadcast in 1996 as a sequel to the hit Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Unlike those two however, GT controversially did not adapt the manga by series creator Akira Toriyama, but was instead a sequel.
GT‘s status in the series’ canon has been shaky at times. More recent Dragon Ball productions, such as the Dragon Ball Super series, have put out material that may contradict plot points of GT. However, story issues haven’t stopped GT characters from appearing in Dragon Ball video games before.
Kid Goku (GT) is the third Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC character in the game’s FighterZ Pass 2. He was preceded by Jiren and Videl, and will be followed by Gogeta (SSB), Broly (DBS), and one more as-yet unnamed character. Broly (DBS) hails from the recent Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie.
When he arrives in May, he’ll bring with in one other thing introduced in that series: Super Saiyan 4. He has a hidden meteor attack called the “Dragon Fist Explosion.” Normally a rush attack, using this after a teammate has died causes Kid Goku (GT) to transform into his adult Super Saiyan 4 state.
V-Jump also reveals that three additional commentator voice packs will arrive alongside Kid Goku (GT). These allow players to have characters in each specific pack serve as commentators during their matches.
The first commentator pack features Android 17, Trunks, and Zamasu, and will retail in Japan for ¥200. On the other hand, the second pack features Beerus and Whis, while the third only has Dragon Ball FighterZ antagonist Android 21. Both packs will retail for ¥150 each.
