The Witcher Netflix series release date

The Witcher Netflix series release date set for later this year

The Witcher Netflix series release date has been narrowed down to later this year. The upcoming adaptation of this fantasy series has been in development for some time with the pilot script having been completed back in February of 2018. A total of eight episodes are planned and the series was estimated to debut sometime in 2020, but it seems that the production has gone well enough that the team behind the series will be able to be released before the end of 2019.

Deadline reports that a recent investor conference call for Netflix revealed that The Witcher Netflix series release date would be sometime in the fourth quarter of 2019, which places the show’s debut between October and December 2019.

The show is currently in production in Bulgaria with Henry Cavill taking on the role of the franchise’s lead character Geralt. No specific release date has yet been announced.

The Netflix series previously featured an early casting call that was searching for BAME (Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic) actresses to play the role of Ciri, the pseudo-foster daughter of Geralt. Ciri was subsequently announced to be played by Freya Allan, a 17-year-old British actress.

More recently, a pair of leaked videos from a special effects company gave us our first look at some scenes from the show. One of the scenes was an airborne shot of Kaer Morhen that shows exactly how the special effects company managed to emulate the look that we’ve previously seen in the video games. The second scene was a short battle between two unknown forces in the midst of a village.

If you’ve been excited to watch this show, you won’t have to wait for long; The Witcher Netflix series release date is sometime in the fourth quarter of 2019. You’ll be able to watch it for yourself with a subscription to Netflix.
