Fortnite Ruin

Fortnite Ruin tease offers a look at upcoming content

Fortnite Ruin tease has popped up on the game’s official Twitter, hinting at something interesting coming to the game in the near future. The cryptic tweet, which you can see below, shows an armored humanoid figure in a darkened setting with glowing orange eyes. Unfortunately, it’s so dark that we can barely see a damn thing beyond some basic details of whatever the heck it is that Epic Games is teasing.

As we are in the midst of Fortnite Season 8, it’s reasonable to guess that the Fortnite Ruin tease is something we’re going to be seeing in the coming days. What exactly it is, however, is a total mystery. Although this particular tweet doesn’t give us much in the way of detail, there are a few clues elsewhere that hint at what we could be looking at in this mysterious message.

A tweet by @Scenario highlights a pickaxe that has recently been datamined. The Demon Skull pickaxe is of Epic Rarity and bears a good deal of visual similarities. Odds are, the Fortnite Ruin tease is related to the Demon Skull pickaxe in some fashion.

It’s entirely possible that “Ruin” is simply a skin that players will get, possibly as one of the penultimate rewards for Fortnite Season 8. However, one theory states that this may be a map-wide boss PvE boss fight for players to participate in. The Save the World PvE portion of Fortnite certainly has its fair share of grandiose boss battles, so it wouldn’t be entirely out of place for the Battle Royale side of the game to take a crack at it.

Of course, there’s also the chance that neither of these theories are accurate. The one thing we can be certain of is that “Ruin” is stylistically appropriate for a seasonal map with a big ol’ volcano blasting hot magma everywhere (as is the Demon Skull pickaxe). Keep your fingers crossed for more info in the next few days!
