SEGA Disposes Aliens: Colonial Marines For Wii U

It's hard to tell if losing a sub-par game is a good or bad thing for the Wii U.

SEGA has officially announced that the Wii U is no longer getting Aliens: Colonial Marines. Its public statement to IGN said:

SEGA can confirm that the Wii U sku of Aliens: Colonial Marines is no longer in development.
No explanation was given for the cancelation, but recent events tell most of the story. It was originally proclaimed the best version of the bunch, a statement that was later made less substantial by poor review scores on other platforms. A Gearbox insider blamed its underwhelming reception on outsourcing which probably isn't far from the truth. Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford shared shortly after that he isn't even sure if the Wii U version will make it to store shelves.

The game did manage to sell well on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but its quality has tarnished Gearbox Software's otherwise very positive reputation. The Wii U will continue to suffer from a lack of game quantity making Nintendo's job of staying relevant next-gen a serious problem.
