It appears that plot details of the upcoming Sonic movie leaked on Reddit, one which outlines a strange and wonderful origin story for the blue blur. Beware of potential spoilers below, but this rumored early cut isn’t necessarily what we’ll be getting when the movie comes out in theaters, but the various plot details (if this is accurate, of course) can give us insight into what we can expect to see.
A now-deleted AMA (Ask Me Anything) submission was made by someone who claimed to have seen an early cut of the film. They’ve provided no other substantive evidence other than their word. While there are certainly plenty of details, we may not have seen the plot of the Sonic movie leaked just yet. Obviously, there will be spoilers ahead. Real or not, let’s dive in!
To start, the origins of Sonic the Hedgehog have our hero escaping his birth planet as a baby. The classic rings from the series are used for a sort of teleportation in the film; Sonic can simply throw a ring, imagine a place, and be instantly transported to that location. Sonic is found by an owl and grows up on Earth, spending most of his formative years living in the shadows and away from civilization.
Sonic and Tom meet face-to-face for the first time and our adorable blue hero ends up getting popped with a tranquilizer. Dr. Robotnik shows up, but Sonic and Tom escape. Dr. Robotnik will pursue Sonic throughout the movie, though no other characters from the franchise are expected to make an appearance. Lastly (and perhaps most unfortunately), Sonic will do the floss dance at some point during the film.
It’s entirely possible that all of this is made up. (Considering what we’ve seen so far, it would certainly cause some fans to breathe a sigh of relief). However, one supporting element for this story has popped up: an officially licensed Baby Sonic plus has popped up on Toy Wiz. We can’t say for sure whether or not the Sonic movie leaked, but its looking like at least some of these details may be accurate.
