Respawn Entertainment‘s new Star Wars video game will be revealed in April. The wraps will finally coming off Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, first named at E3 last year, during Star Wars Celebration this year.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order will be revealed on April 13 ahead of its scheduled fall 2019 release date. EA and Respawn will unveil the 3rd-person action-adventure game Jedi: Fallen Order in Chicago at Star Wars Celebration. The game was informally announced several years ago and received a title and logo at E3 2018. Stig Asmussen, director of God of War 3, is directing the new Star Wars game.
Jedi: Fallen Order follows a young Padawan after Order 66 wiped out much of the Jedi Order. The game will be set between Star Wars Episode III and Star Wars Episode IV. Not much is known about the game other than its general premise and gameplay style.
Some fans had speculated that Jedi: Fallen Order might focus on Kanan Jarrus from the Star Wars Rebels TV show, but a comic about the Jedi’s life post-Order 66 already exists. It’s possible that Kanan is the main protagonist, but more likely that Respawn’s game will focus on a new Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66.
Lucasfilm will likely debut new footage from the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX at the mid-April event as well. Jedi: Fallen Order is expected to ship prior to Episode IX‘s theatrical release on December 20.
Respawn recently released Apex Legends, a free-to-play battle royale game set its Titanfall universe. Several weeks before that news came out that EA had canceled a Star Wars game in development at EA Vancouver. That game was being built using assets and concepts leftover from Visceral Games’ canceled Star Wars game.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order will be the first new console Star Wars game from EA since 2017’s Battlefront II. Jedi Fallen Order will also be only the third console Star Wars game since EA received exclusive rights to the brand in 2013.
