Capcom And Valve Announce Crossover Of Resident Evil 6 And Left 4 Dead 2

Capcom and Valve have announced a joint venture that will blend their blockbusters Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 in an upcoming crossover project. Characters from Left 4 Dead 2 will be featured in Resident Evil 6's upcoming PC release while enemies from Resident Evil 6 will appear in Left 4 Dead 2. This content will be available free of charge and exclusively on the PC.

More specifically, Capcom said in a release today that the L4D2 cast will be playable in the PC-exclusive Mercenaries mode titled The Mercenaries No Mercy. Coach, Nick, Ellis, and Rochelle will come complete with special weapons to combat the victims of the Umbrella Corporation.

What's more, the Witch and Mini Tank enemies from L4D2 will appear in that mode, whether you've chosen a cameo character or not. As a result, Left 4 Dead 2 players will discover RE6 enemies like the Lepotitsa and Ogroman in their game as well. Chet Faliszek of Valve said the staff are huge fans of Resident Evil and that "when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, [Valve] jumped at it."

These additions were made using the Steam Workshop tools available to Steam users and players should expect to see the content appear in L4D2 this Spring. The RE6 content will be available on April 5th.
