An Anthem Quickplay bug has been inadvertently sending low-level players into the game’s final story mission. The bug is occurring when players use the Quickplay option. The option is designed to match players with others of a similar level who require another team member.
According to PC Gamer, the issue sends low-level players into games in which they shouldn’t be allowed, leading to potential story spoilers as well as mismatched enemy encounters. A streamer called Brandon Larned highlighted the issues, tweeting out his experience with the problem:
Don’t use quickplay if you’re new to Anthem. It can backfill you into the final mission of the story and spoil. This level 3 got in my mission. He ended up leaving, but a lvl 2 backfilled 5~ mins later and didn’t.

When a Twitter user complained to Anthem developers about what they thought was poor design, lead producer Ben Irving responded bluntly. “This is a bug.” There is no word yet on when the problem will be resolved, however it doesn’t seem to be the only Anthem Quickplay bug in the game. A user on EA’s support forums reported an issue that affects completing objectives in Quickplay. The user stated indicators highlighted what the player needed to do next were absent and they were unable to quit the mission. Elsewhere on Reddit, the same issue was reported.
At the end of January, BioWare’s Head of Live Service Chad Robertson was forced to defend the game’s VIP beta when it was heavily criticized for its bugs. BioWare lead producer Mike Gamble also came to Anthem’s defense stating, “more often than not, nearly universally, liked what they played.” Gamble further stated he was happy about the discovery of bugs in the beta as they were either easy to fix or already on their to-do list.
There is no denying bugs have carried over to the main game, however. We have a guide on how to fix an issue which causes the sound to cut out in Anthem. A rubberbanding issue has been affecting the game as well.
Anthem is set for release on February 22 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
