Super Smash Bros Ultimate 3.0 Joker DLC

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Joker DLC release date and 3.0 update revealed

At today’s Nintendo Direct, a Smash Ultimate 3.0 update was teased. Alongside the update announcement, we also got a tentative release date for the Smash Bros Ultimate Joker DLC. Unfortunately, details were thin concerning both topics.

The Smash Bros Ultimate 3.0 update is stated to be coming sometime in spring. Other than that absolutely no details were released about the game’s next major update. It can be assumed there’ll be bug fixes and balancing, but we have no clue what will be included otherwise.

We’re a little clearer on the Joker DLC for Smash Ultimate. He should hit the game sometime before the end of April 2019, and the Nintendo Direct gave us a peek at his stage and music. We don’t know what kind of moves he’ll have yet, so we can’t wait to see how he plays.

To get Joker, you’ll need the Fighters Pass DLC which you can purchase separately for $24.99. With the Fighter’s Pass, you get access to all five planned character DLC packs when they become available. Joker is the only announced character so far, but who knows who might make it into the game in the future.

As a footnote to the announcements about the 3.0 update and Joker DLC, Nintendo also revealed which Smash Bros amiibo would debut this year. In 2019 we’ll see Snake, Simon, Squirtle, Pokemon Trainer, Ivysaur, and potentially others hit stores. For those still collecting, this is excellent news.

Smash Ultimate was one of the best-selling games of 2019, and it looks like it’s only going to get better. With Nintendo’s great long-term support, the game is sure to flourish for the foreseeable future.
