xbox games with gold for February include bomberman and bloodstained

Xbox Games with Gold February titles announced

Microsoft has announced February’s Games with Gold lineup, which include a number of retro-inspired (and just straight-up retro) titles.

Starting on February 1st, Xbox One owners who subscribe to Gold will be able to download Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and the Xbox 360 title Assassin’s Creed Rogue. These will be available until February 15, when it will switch over to the other two free games of the month.

Curse of the Moon is an 8-bit inspired platformer very similar to early Castlevania titles on the NES. That isn’t much of a surprise, as Koji Igarashi is the creator of both Bloodstained and Castlevania. The game was a stretch goal for the crowdfunded Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which is more similar to the PS1-era Castlevania games such as Symphony of the Night. This is due for release sometime in 2019.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is a sequel to Assassin’s Creed 4, which is set in colonial United States during the Seven Years’ War. This will be the 360 version of the title, not the remastered release that came out for modern consoles last year.

Starting on February 16, Xbox One title Super Bomberman R and original Xbox title Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy will be available for download. This will run through the end of the month, February 28.

Super Bomberman R was released for the Xbox One last summer. It’s the first new Bomberman game to come out in over a decade, features the familiar style of gameplay that is found in most series titles, and also includes online play and a new story mode.

Jedi Academy is a third and first person shooter developed by Raven Software, originally released back in 2003. It follows the story of Jaden Korr, a student at the Jedi Academy who takes missions from Jedi master Kyle Katarn and Luke Skywalker.

Celeste and Far Cry 2, which are this month’s Games with Gold games, will be available until January 31st.
