Portal 2 Authoring Tools Go Live

Some of your creations are really surprising. Like that one level you created in LittleBigPlanet 2. I have a lot of respect for that stuff because I just don't have the patience or know-how for that kind of thing. The closest I've come to generating my own custom-made level for any game was a gigantic ramp I made in Halo: Reach. I wanted to make my mongoose fly. Unfortunately, it, and my spartan, ended up sinking like a rock in Forge World.

Still, I enjoy playing the creations other people have taken the time to craft. Valve does too. That's why their games consistently encourage community support. Portal 2 is no different.

Valve release the authoring tools for Portal 2 today so that individuals with the drive and desire can create their own 3D Portal puzzles. Download the Portal 2 Authoring Tools and you can create single and co-op maps, new character skins, 3D models, sound effects, and music:

Here's what's included:

-Updated version of Hammer, the Source level editor

-Updated Faceposer

-Example maps and instances to help build new maps

-Updated suite of command-line compiling utitlities

As excited as I am to play some of these creations, I can't help but get the feeling that I'm going to have one very specific response to a vast majority of them:

"You monster."
