netflix looks to raise prices across the board

Netflix price rise hits all customers in the United States

Netflix is moving to raise prices in the United States once again after having just raised prices less than a year ago.

CNBC is reporting that prices will increase between 13 and 18 percent. The lowest tier for the streaming service, currently at $8, will now rise to $9. Meanwhile, the $11 and $14 plans will increase to $13 and $16 respectively. New subscribers will be subject to the new price change immediately, while existing subscribers will see the new pricing roll out for them over the next three months, according to the report.

Netflix last raised prices back in October of 2017, when they increased their $10 plan to $11.

The streaming service has been aggressive in growth over the last few years, earning accolades and high praise for movies such as Bird Box and television shows like Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black and Fuller House.

Some video game-related shows coming to the streaming service include Castlevania, an animated series that is already out. A series based on The Witcher is also coming to the service and will star Henry Cavill, best known for playing Superman in recent DC Comics films. It isn’t known when it will arrive on Netflix.

Video games based on Netflix television and movies are also becoming more common. A turn-based strategy game based on Narcos is coming next year.  Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, is being developed by Kuju Entertainment and is set for release on PC and consoles later this year.

A Telltale game based on Stranger Things was to be the studio’s next project before suddenly being shut down last fall. Early development footage of the game was leaked following the closure, which caused Netflix to fine the studio for leaking out the information.

A game based on the third season of the show. developed by BonusXP, is set for release on all consoles later this year.
