Xbox Game Pass has added ARK Survival Evolved and Life is Strange 2 Episode 1, allowing subscribers to download both games for free. The online survival game and the graphic adventure are the latest additions to Microsoft’s subscription service, which offers a slew of games to download on Xbox One and Windows for a $9.99 monthly fee.
ARK Survival Evolved is Studio Wildcard’s sandbox survival game, which places players in a PvP environment filled with dinosaurs and rival players. Released on the Xbox One back in 2017, it’s still a popular multiplayer game, with it averaging around 40,000 concurrents on Steam.
Life is Strange 2 Episode 1 was released back in September 2018, with Episode 2 set to release on January 24, 2019. The entire first season of Life is Strange was also released on Xbox Game Pass in December, so those who haven’t caught up with Dontnod Entertainment’s episodic series will now be able to do so in full.
Xbox Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra recently tweeted his thoughts on the company’s Xbox Game Pass announcement. “Had a chance to review the @XboxGamePass line-up for January (coming soon!) – and it’s awesome. Like December, January is going to be a great month for subscribers. #Xbox,” he wrote.
It’s unclear if Xbox plans to announce more Xbox Game Pass games for this month, or if ARK and Life is Strange 2 will be the only new additions in January. While they’re certainly two popular additions to the service, Ybarra’s tweet suggests that more could be on their way.
Xbox Game Pass had a terrific 2018, with the likes of Forza Horizon 4 and Sea of Thieves appearing on the service on their launch day. It has already been revealed that both Halo: Infinite and Gears 5 will receive the same treatment, with Microsoft outclassing Sony’s similar PlayStation Now service in terms of the games that it offers. It’s looking to be a great year for subscribers, with ARK and Life is Strange 2 kicking off what should be a hugely impressive line-up.
