Beyond Good and Evil 2 Online Only Requirement Triggers David Jaffe to Respond

The Beyond Good and Evil 2 online only requirement has caused controversy for those who are worried about needing a constant internet connection. God of War creator David Jaffe, however, doesn’t seem to be all that bothered.

On December 23, Jaffe tweeted about the issue, calling those who were complaining about the requirement “super entitled babies who now have more time to complain.” Here’s the tweet:

Obviously, people took issue with that response and went after Jaffe on Twitter. He doubled down, saying that if people didn’t see this as an equivalent of arguing in a sports bar, then that’s their own problem. He’s also used it as a way to promote his own livestreaming ventures.

In a recent developer update on the Beyond Good and Evil 2 website, there was a question regarding a constant internet connection. That is when it was confirmed that the game needed to be online at all times.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience,” the site says. “As such, the game will only be playable with an internet connection in order to have seamless navigation, receive dynamic updates, and play with friends (which is certainly better when you’re playing as a Space Pirate!)”

News has been trickling out regarding Beyond Good & Evil 2 since the game’s official reveal at last year’s E3. It was originally announced over ten years ago, but had been in development hell for a long time, with no new information until 2017. It is a sequel to the much more linear offline game Beyond Good & Evil, which came out back in 2003.

Developers also promised in the update that despite Beyond Good & Evil 2’s pivot towards online multiplayer, there would be a constant narrative throughout the game similar to the first game.

There is no current release date for Beyond Good & Evil 2.
