Xbox Games with Gold January 2019 Games Announced

The Xbox Games with Gold January 2019 lineup has been announced. Intentionally or not, all four of next month’s games will see players having to deal with treacherous terrain in their own unique ways.

A news post on the Xbox website lets us know how Xbox Live Gold members will be kicking off the new year. The Xbox Games with Gold January 2019 games are Celeste and WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship for the Xbox One; the other two titles will be Far Cry 2 and Lara Croft: Guardian of Light for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One via backwards compatability.

Celeste is perhaps the most surprising inclusion in this list. It was released in January of this year and was pretty well-received. This game makes for a super-challenging platforming experience that even the most practiced gamers will enjoy. It took home Best Indie Game and Games For Impact at 2018’s The Game Awards. You can get this game all throughout January 2019 for the Xox One.

WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship isn’t just a mouthful of a title—it’s also a pretty good racing game. This rally racing game features 11 Super Special changes and plenty of intense terrain for you to conquer, either by yourself or with friends in local split-screen multiplayer. You can get WRC 6 from January 16–February 15, 2019 for the Xbox One.

Far Cry 2 drops you in the middle of Africa. You’ll have to contend with deadly warlords and a dynamic weather system as you traverse the landscape. Even navigation will be challenging as there’s no traditional map in this title from Ubisoft Montreal; instead, you’ll have to get by with a map and compass held in your hand. This game will be up for grabs from January 16–31, 2019 for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Lara Croft: Guardian of Light is the final title in the Xbox Games with Gold January 2019 lineup. This certainly isn’t a traditional Tomb Raider title! You’ll be playing by yourself or with a friend from an overhead perspective as you battle undead, navigate traps, and try to escape deadly ruins alive! You can get Guardian of Light from January 1—January 15, 2019, for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The four games are valued together at just under $105, making this a particularly nice freebie for people who will be getting the Xbox Games with Gold January 2019 lineup, as well as offering one of the best games of 2018 in Celeste. If you’re like to grab one of these titles for yourself on the cheap, make sure you go ahead and keep your Xbox Live Gold membership up to date!
