You may have seen rumblings on The Witcher's Facebook page, or with GameInformer's cover reveal, but it has been officially confirmed today with a trailer: The Witcher 3 is coming and it will be called Wild Hunt.
CD Projekt Red has also said that The Witcher 3 will be the final game in this series after it releases in 2014, which suggests that the game will release on next-gen consoles, though none were specifically named at this time. The studio also revealed that the game world will be 30 times larger than the world in The Witcher 2. Just in case you thought the amount of side quests in The Witcher 2 was insane, you've obviously seen nothing yet.
“Imagine playing a dark fantasy game with the same great non-linear story as in the previous Witcher titles, but now told in a world you can explore freely with no artificial boundaries. The war-ravaged world is so huge that to reach further places you will need to ride a horse or sail a boat to get there," Adam Badowski, CD Projekt Red studio manager, said.
Oh and yes, there will be decisions Geralt will have to make that will greatly affect what happens in the world, just as in previous games. Badowski went as far as to say that these choices have "truly epic consequences." Considering that one particular choice in The Witcher 2 could result in a complete town burning to the ground, I'm very curious what "truly epic" could mean.
CD Projekt Red's "title trailer" is really little more than that. There is no gameplay, but The Witcher's main theme brilliantly blasts in the background.
