Warframe Switch is out now.

Warframe Switch Version Is Available Now

After spending years on other platforms, Warframe is available now for the Nintendo Switch. The co-op online science fiction shooter was announced for the Switch earlier this year, and is still free to download and play like it is on the other systems. The Warframe Switch port includes all the content through August’s Mask of the Revenant update and will see more patches soon.

Warframe on Switch is also offering a starter pack of in-game items to players who complete the game’s first quest. The items include 50,000 credits, a three-day affinity booster, an Orokin Reactor and Catalyst, and a Forma. The starter pack will be available through the end of December 4. PC players will be able to port their account to the Nintendo Switch, while keeping the account available on PC.

Accounts cannot be transferred from the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game, nor can they be transferred from Switch to other systems. Warframe Switch is joining a number of other free-to-play games on the system that do not require Nintendo Switch Online, the system’s paid online service. Motion controls are also supported in the Switch version of the game.

Digital Extremes announced Warframe Switch in early July at the yearly TennoCon fan event. Panic Button is developing the Switch port. The company has experience porting other games to the Nintendo console like Doom, Rocket League, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Another boon for Switch players is that, unlike Nintendo games like Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2, parties in Warframe can plug any mic-equipped headset into the system’s 3.5mm jack and voice chat away. No need for clunky phone apps and wires everywhere.

Originally released in 2013, Warframe has become immensely successful, and is ranked in the top 10 games on Steam at any time. Players control as a Tenno, essentially space ninjas that flip and fly through the world while third-person shooting their enemies away. The mission-based game is often compared to Destiny, except in third-person. Warframes are the games various classes, and players can level up and swap them out as they play.
