Forza Horizon 4 Fortune Island Expansion Announced

Forza Horizon 4 Fortune Island expansion was announced at Microsoft’s X018 conference. The new expansion sends the Horizon festival to Fortune Island, which features rough new terrain. The Fortune Island expansion will also bring thunderstorms and other extreme weather to the game.

Fortune Island will launch on December 13, 2018 for the Xbox One and PC versions of the game. The new land mass is set to the northernmost regions of the British Isles. the expansion seems to have a focus on off-roading and drifting. The mountainous Fortune Island is home to the “longest set of mountain switchback terrain” the Forza Horizon games have ever seen, and is ideal for drifting.

New to Forza Horizon 4 will be dynamic lightning storms, the aurora borealis glowing overhead, and a search for “hidden treasure.” Playground Games also said the island was the largest they’ve ever built, although its unclear if the expansion is geographically larger than the main Horizon 4 land mass.

Also coming to Forza Horizon 4 are five custom-built vehicles from Ken Block’s upcoming GymkhanaTEN. Car Pass members will start seeing the vehicles earlier this month with the 1977 Ford F-150 “Hoonitruck”, and the 1993 Ford Escort Cosworth Group A homologation  special. All players will gain access to the 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn V2, and the 2017 Ford Fiesta RS. December will bring the 2016 Ford Focus RS RX from Block’s GymkhanaTEN.

The Lamborghini Urus looks to be the cover star for the Fortune Island expansion. The Urus was launched in 2018 with a massive 641hp, and it is Lamborghini’s first SUV since the 1980s LM002.

Forza Horizon 4 launched in late September to near universal acclaim. We gave the title a 4.5 out of 5, praising its graphics, track design, and implementation of seasons into the gameplay loop. We said, “It’s fun to play for hours or just a race at a time, and it’s this that gives it the staying power that will keep you coming back for more.” Fortune Island should take all that was good about the game, and expand on it in a new environment.
