LittleBigPlanet 2: Extras Editions Releases Next Month

Sony announced today that they will release a new version of LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 2: Extras Edition, in February for the PlayStation 3. The new version includes the original LittleBigPlanet 2 along with a host of new content.

Most prominent of the new add-on packs is the Cross-Controller Pack, which allows players to use their Vitas as a controller. Many have wanted to see the Vita used in this manner for games, and it looks like we're finally getting that wish. The video below demonstrates how this cross-connectivity works.

Another add-on pack employs PlayStation Move support, and the third add-on pack is a Muppets Premium Level Kit, which calls on players to stop a theatre Phantom from ruining a Muppet performance.

The Extras Edition is also packed with costume bundles. In case you haven't found just the right outfit for your Sackboy, you can sample one from these new packs:

  • Muppets Costume Pack
  • Weekend Pursuits Costume Pack
  • Deep Sea Adventures Costume Pack
  • Sports Costume Pack
  • Dogs Costume Pack
  • Cats Costume Pack

There is no official announcement as to whether players who already own LittleBigPlanet 2 can purchase these add-on packs separately from the Extras Edition release.
