Bandai Namco is bringing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 I Raid to all platforms this winter. The brand-new game mode will be completely free for everyone and adds yet another dimension to the large online game. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is the game that keeps on giving, despite the success of Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Ryukutya2089 broke the news of the winter update and mode coming to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Twitter use BlackKite, thankfully, was on hand to translate the post into English. They explain that “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 gets a new mode in upcoming winter update: I Raid Mode.” The new mode is a 1 vs 5 battle, with players going up against Raid Bosses and the like. “Player avatar can use a new dark crystal item to turn evil and become a raid boss to be fought by 5 other players.” The game’s latest,Fused Zamasu, Domigra, and Mira characters can be used in the mode.
BlackKite also explains that the winning side will be awarded “a lot of EXP, Zeni (money), and random past event-exclusive accessories.” While these awards will all come in handy for whichever team wins the I Raid battles, it does sound unfair towards the team of one player. Unfortunately, there are no further details regarding the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 I Raid Mode. We don’t know when I Raid is going live, whether or not it can be played locally, single-player, or online only, and we don’t know if the team of one will be given a stat-boost to help balance the mode.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 isn’t the only Dragon Ball game getting some love right now. Arc System Works’ Dragon Ball FighterZ has recently been on the receiving end of a hefty update, which introduced 1v1 and 2v2 battles alongside its standard 3v3 offering. Both games are being treated to new playable characters at a solid rate, too.
