Call of Duty Black Ops 4 split screen has been confirmed—at least in terms of offline mode play. This means that Treyarch’s new title will likely feature couch co-op options for both the Campaign and Zombies modes.
Call of Duty Black Ops featured the options for four-player split-screen in offline play and two-player split-screen for online play. It is likely that the latest iteration of Black Ops will feature the same breakdown in relation to its approach to couch co-op.
This was confirmed in a Reddit post posted by u/TitledGlue77758. The post contains a screenshot from Black Ops 4‘s campaign. If you look closely, you can see that underneath the player’s username in the top-right corner is an option to press X to add a controller for split-screen. Although it was likely that couch co-op would be featured in Black Ops 4, it was never officially confirmed. This photo has proved that the fan-favorite split-screen mode will be making its eagerly awaited return to the newest Call of Duty title.
However, this confirmation solely refers to offline play for now. While it is likely that there will at least be the option for two-player split-screen online, it hasn’t yet been confirmed. Also, there is no confirmation as to whether split-screen will be available in the Blackout Battle Royale mode, despite much speculation online. Some players have claimed that there is in fact split-screen available for Blackout, but the screenshots that have been shown so far have only proven that players can be in the same online party, as opposed to proving that split-screen is available in Blackout specifically.
In other news related to Black Ops 4, it seems that players will be able to peek around corners using emotes, and that there will be no supply drops in Black Ops 4.
