OnePlus 6T Release Date Revealed

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has revealed the OnePlus 6T release date. The launch of the device will happen on October 30. This will be celebrated with an event in New York City that is due to start at 11 AM EST. Tickets to the event are available now and it will also be live-streamed through the company’s website.

The OnePlus 6T’s predecessor was only released earlier this year, but the smartphone company has already made big plans for its next phone. Not much is known officially about the new device, however various leaks have given a good idea of what it could be like.

One of the largest of these is the size of the device’s notch. According to some sources, the OnePlus 6T’s notch will rival that of Apple or Google’s new flagship smartphones. This is since the new OnePlus phone will only have a front-facing camera notch. Another key feature of the device that was revealed early is the in-display fingerprint scanner. The company itself confirmed this news earlier this year to various outlets. Only a few other devices, such as the Vivo V11, also have this characteristic. However, only specific parts of the screen can be used for this feature.

Another, potentially controversial, attribute of the OnePlus 6T is the removal of a headphone jack. In an interview with TechRadar, co-founder Carl Pei confirmed this news. He added that the removal of the 3.5 mm jack has “freed up more space, allowing us to put more new technology into the product.” He continued to say that the removal will allow for a large battery-life.

The OnePlus 6, the 6T’s predecessor, was launched in May of 2018. It received favorable reviews, with Trusted Reviews giving it four and a half stars and calling it one of the best smartphones available.
