Frostbite Is Quickly Replacing Unreal Engine Starting With BioWare

Sick of the Unreal Engine? You aren't alone.

BioWare Edmonton General Manager Aaron Flynn shared the team's interest in Frostbite, and believes that we'll see much more of it in the future. He said the following to GameInformer upon being asked if all future BioWare projects will use Frostbite:

I think so. When we look at Frostbite and the success we’re having with it with Dragon Age 3 and the support we’re getting from teams around EA, it’s fun being a part of an organization and community that’s doing good work with that technology.

Frostbite made its debut with Battlefield: Bad Company, and after some tinkering it evolved into Frostbite 2 which Battlefield 3 derived its large-scale, highly-realistic environments from. After proving its potential was announced that Dragon Age III: Inquisition, and even the next Need for Speed and Mass Effect games will harness its power.

At this rate, there's a very realistic chance we'll begin seeing more EA published titles running on Frostbite. Given its ability to take advantage of modern PC hardware unlike many of its competitors, that's definitely not a bad thing.
