Nintendo’s Dragalia Lost Mobile Game Out Now

Nintendo is venturing further into the mobile games market with its latest venture, Dragalia Lost. Its had a lot of success with spinoff titles like Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, but this is possibly the first fully-fledged RPG title that the company is releasing for smartphones the world over. We note that the game is currently available for download for iPhone, even though the servers haven’t quite gone up yet. The Dragalia Lost mobile game looks to be released by Nintendo on September 27, but apart from a trailer that we’ve seen, we don’t really know all that much about the title.

Judging by the gameplay trailer shown at the Nintendo Direct along with other footage about the game, it uses a lot of the fantasy tropes that we’re used to (dragons, magic, bubbly and blonde protagonists) and gives it the signature Nintendo layer of adorable paint. The title itself also combines a number of common mechanics like overpower abilities, Break gauges to impact enemy defenses, and a whole ton of boss fights to keep you occupied. There also looks to be a lot of inter-party dialogue and potential for character narratives to evolve as the story goes, but we’ll know for certain once the title has seen its official release.

There’s a lot to love from the preliminary footage that has been made available to Nintendo fans regarding Dragalia Lost. It’s got some very familiar aesthetics and concepts, but if we’re going to judge the company by the success of previous titles like Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, Nintendo will know how to monetize its latest in a way that gives instead of grates. The characters look interesting while maintaining the sort of RPG class familiarity and element triangle that previous titles have already built on. We’re excited to see what Dragalia Lost brings to the table when it releases, so if you’re just as keen as we are then let us know in the comments section below. Otherwise, feast your eyes on the footage so far.
