Square Enix announced today that it is publishing a new Deck Nine game. Deck Nine Games is the developer behind the Life is Strange prequel, Life is Strange Before the Storm. Neither Deck Nine nor Square Enix have not announced what this new game is, as each just revealed their extended relationship.
The news of a new Deck Nine game for Square Enix was revealed via a press release. Square Enix External Studios Head Lee Singleton and Deck Nine Games’ Vice President Jeff Litchford offered their opinions on the continued relationship between the two companies. Singleton spoke of the success of the partnership, but stopped short of announcing what Deck Nine’s new game is.
“The partnership with Deck Nine has been a huge success,” he said. “The opportunity to work with Deck Nine on another game was an easy decision, although we’re keeping the project details under wraps for now.”
Litchford, too, spoke up the relationship between Deck Nine and Square Enix. He explains that the company is very pleased to be working with Square Enix again.
“We couldn’t be happier,” said Litchford. “Our passion is meaningful storytelling, relatable characters, and rich gameplay. Square Enix is an incredible, world-class partner who shares our passion.”
Although neither company would share any details regarding the new game, these tenets were present in the Deck Nine’s last game, Life is Strange Before the Storm. The prequel received an average review score of 77 on Metacritic.
To staff up for its new game, Deck Nine Games is also on the lookout for a number of new recruits. However, Life is Strange fans don’t have long to wait for its sequel. Episode One of Life is Strange 2, which is being developed by Dontnod, releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 27, 2018. It stars Sean and Daniel Diaz as they travel from Seattle to Mexico.
