TheĀ Resident Evil 2 remakeĀ was first shown off at this yearās E3 to much acclaim, and its follow-up announcement would end up winning the Best of Show award at the 2018 Game Critics Awards. Now, thereās been a new Resident Evil 2Ā trailer released for the remake, fresh off the press at Tokyo Game Show. The footage shows Leon and Ada tackling the uncertainties of Raccoon Cityās dangerous underground, and seems to suggest that the storylines playable by Claire and Leon will be totally distinct.
From what we already know of this remake, itās going to be a direct upgrade of the components that madeĀ Resident Evil 2Ā so great. This isnāt just a remaster with minimal tweaking. It will have plenty of modern conveniences, including a third person POV which looks to move fluidly in the footage so far. The change in POV was intended to make the experience more harrowing for the players involved, according to producer YoshiakiĀ Hirabayashiās interview with Gamespot.
Another modern addition to theĀ newĀ Resident Evil 2Ā remake is the fact that much likeĀ Monster Hunter WorldĀ cast off the ideas of its older siblings, loading screens between areas are now history. The twin storylines are also getting a bit of an overhaul here with Claire and Leon duking it out in their own solitary narratives without the need (that we know of at this stage) to play as them in a particular order to get a fully-fledged game experience.
Thereās a lot to look forward to with this latestĀ Resident Evil 2Ā trailer, and itās clear that Capcom is wanting to whet our appetite in advance of the gameās relatively close release date of January 2019. Thatās really not much time at all,Ā which could very well mean that another comprehensive sneak peek at gameplay footage isnāt too far off for fans who have been holding their breath in anticipation.
