Fallout 4 New Vegas sure is looking good.

Fan Project Fallout 4 New Vegas Shows Progress in New Trailer

The fan team behind Fallout 4 New Vegas released a new trailer on Saturday. The total conversion mod for Fallout 4 is recreating Fallout: New Vegas in the newer game’s engine. Team F4NV as they are calling themselves, has been steadily working on the Fallout 4 New Vegas mod for a little over a year.

This new trailer showed off the game’s character creator and opening moments with Doc Mitchell. It looks pitch-perfect to the original game, including the Reflectron to style your characters appearance, and the vigor machine to develop player characters’ S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats. Check out the full video below.

Team F4NV is the second group of fans with the same goal. Team F4NV is made up of dozens of fans working as programmers, artists, and designers. The team is planning to bring the core content of New Vegas over, and are considering recreating the DLC after the core game is done. Team F4NV is adding a high level of polish to their work, and are going so far as to recreate voice work and music to avoid legal ramifications.

Unlike other projects of this caliber, Fallout 4 New Vegas will require users to own both Fallout 4 and New Vegas. The team is utilizing assets obtained from legally-owned copies of the original game, and the mod will not work without both games installed on a user’s computer. A similar project bringing Fallout 3 into the Fallout 4 engine was hit with a cease & desist by Bethesda earlier this year for reusing audio assets and voice over.

Fallout: New Vegas was released on 2010 by Bethesda Softworks after being in development for about 18 months at Obsidian Entertainment. After the success of Fallout 3 in 2008, Bethesda contracted the independent developers to work on a follow-up. Obsidian Entertainment was founded by members of Black Isle Studios, the developers of the original Fallout games.

Fallout 4 was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and released in November 2015. Utilizing the internal Creation Engine 2.0, Fallout 4 was the first game by Bethesda Game Studios for the PS4 and Xbox One. Fallout 4 New Vegas will be using the updated engine from that game as a base.
