New Cyberpunk 2077 Details Reveal More About Quest Structure and World Layout

New details for Cyberpunk 2077 have been revealed via a magazine article on the game. The new information includes how side quests will work, more details on the world of the title, as well its lack of procedurally generated content.

EDGE magazine has revealed various details on the upcoming game in its latest feature on Cyberpunk 2077. Quests are going to be unlocked in a similar way to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Rather than simply going up to NPCs or a pre-determined starting point, players will naturally find quests throughout the world of the game.

Specifically, players will “be able to go to places and find items in Night City that are part of quests and pick up the trail of what’s going on here in a logical manner.” In addition to this, the backstory of the player character will also unlock specific side missions at the beginning of the game.

The game will focus on “any stories, characters or themes that aren’t explored in depth in the main story” in the side-quests of the game. The developers added that they “want to make sure that all of them are up to the standards of the main quest—that there’s nothing that feels like filler.” Hopefully, this will include the game’s less-than-ideal portrayal of Asian culture.

In regards to the world of Cyberpunk 2077, the developers have said:

“Pacifica, it’s this super-dangerous territory where you’ve got people who are basically gangsters, and the Psychogangs rule this district. So violence is more predominant there. But you’ve also got these superrich districts like Heybrook, and we vary animations in a way that are connected to the districts.”

In regards to procedurally generated content, the Cyberpunk 2077 development team is vehemently against it. The feature notes that “everything really is hand-crafted” in the game.
