Jump Force Roster Adds Yugi Muto From Yu-Gi-Oh

Bandai Namco has dropped yet another bombshell reveal for Jump Force. The Jump Force roster will now be officially adding Yugi Muto from the popular Yu-Gi-Oh manga and anime as a playable character. The announcement arrives barely a week before the beginning of the highly-anticipated Tokyo Game Show 2018, which will take place from September 20 to September 23, 2018.

The Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe official Twitter account posted the news earlier today, along with our first look at what Yugi looks like in the upcoming crossover fighting game. For those unfamiliar with the character, Yugi Muto is the protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh. Unlike other IPs featured in the game like Dragon Ball or Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh isn’t exactly a conventional series containing epic earth-breaking fight scenes.

Instead, the protagonist solves his conflicts by participating in various children’s card games, the most prominent of which is the now-iconic Yu-Gi-Oh card game. With that in mind, it’s unclear how his fighting style would look like as part of the Jump Force roster. Perhaps he will have the ability to summon monsters like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon or even his signature Dark Magician. We will have to wait for some official gameplay footage of Yugi to see him in action.

Confirmed characters in the Jump Force roster include Naruto and Sasuke from Naruto, as well as Goku, Vegeta and Frieza from Dragon Ball. One Piece and Bleach characters are also in the game, including Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Blackbeard, Sabo, Ichigo, Rukia, and Aizen. Previously, the most recent announcement was the addition of Gon and Hisoka from Hunter X Hunter.

Additionally, Light Yagami and Ryuk from Death Note will also be making an appearance in the game. However, they won’t be playable characters. Several months ago, we reported that Jump Force producer Koji Nakajima described the characters as being “too strong” to be included in the roster.
