battlefield 5 release date

Battlefield 5 Release Date Delayed to November

The Battlefield 5 release date has been pushed back to November 20, it was confirmed by DICE today. In an update published on the EA website, general manager Oskar Gabrielson said that the move was taken in order for the studio to “take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay” of Battlefield 5.

DICE is expecting Battlefield 5 to be “one of the best Battlefield games ever,” and after the open beta kicking off on September 6, we were expecting to see if that truly was the case when the Battlefield 5 release date came on October 19. However, in a statement released by general manager Oskar Gabrielson today, it was confirmed that the Battlefield 5 release date would be getting pushed back into the following month, and will instead be released on November 20 to facilitate further adjustments to the core gameplay, and “to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War,” according to Gabrielson.

“You have told us that you are seeing an increased focus on squad play come through, you are also feeling the difference in our revamped player movement and we are getting a lot of positive feedback for our improved weapons handling,” said Gabrielson in the statement released on the EA website. “You’ve also spurred us to make some meaningful improvements to the core gameplay experience, including adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility and reducing player friction. You’ll see a lot of these reflected in our Open Beta that starts on September 6.”

Another factor to bring into consideration is how cluttered October is for major releases. Around the same time as the initial Battlefield 5 release date, we’ll see the release of Read Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty Black Ops 4, both major players in the market. The risk involved in releasing a game in this scenario would be a division of audiences, so while the decision may be due to more time needed for final tweaks, the move is also bound to circumvent this in some way as well.
