As well as a limited edition featuring a GameCube controller, Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be getting a Smash Bros Ultimate Special Edition complete with a steelbook and Switch pro controller. The Special Edition is up for pre-order and will be releasing alongside other editions on December 7 – with the pro controller available separately.
With the incomprehensibly huge quantity of news and content we’ve been getting on Super Smash Bros Ultimate this year, it’s no surprise that the internet is fiending for Smash content. Already a stickler for goodies, the Smash and greater Nintendo community in general is getting quite the treat. Not only is there going to be a Smash Bros Ultimate Limited Edition featuring a GameCube controller and a fancy box, but Nintendo is also releasing a Smash Bros Ultimate Special Edition with a steelbook and a Smash Bros Ultimate themed Switch pro controller.
The Smash Bros Ultimate Special Edition pro controller looks pretty snazzy, with white grips and a translucent body that has the iconic Smash logo printed on it, all contributing towards a sleek and cool black-and-white color scheme. The steelbook is minimalistic as it has a matte black with the flaming Smash logo first unveiled during the Super Smash Bros Ultimate reveal trailer shown off during the Nintendo Direct in March. The whole package is edgy yet aesthetically sophisticated, which is quite a contrast to the flashy and colorful style of the game itself. Although one could argue that it is complimentary.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is due for a release on December 7, and both the Smash Bros Ultimate Special Edition and Limited Edition will be releasing on the same day. The Switch pro controller in the Special Edition will be sold separately too, and everything is currently up for pre-order now, on Amazon and through other retailers – for the Special Edition, retailers will be announced soon.
