Ubisoft has lifted the lid on Rainbow Six Siege Year 3 Season 3, which is now called Operation Grim Sky. The new season will introduce two new Operators, which the publisher teases in the image above. It will also introduce the game’s first rework of an established map: Hereford Base. The new Operators in Rainbow Six Siege aren’t named, but we get a bit of backstory. Previously Ubisoft had revealed that the two new characters would be coming from “Scotland Yard in the UK, and Delta Force from the US,” and now they’ve finally elaborated on that brief tease.
The female British Operator is the one holding the Police Shield in the picture, and is described as “a tough police officer who’s an expert on mob behavior and snatch-squad tactics. She knows she belongs on the front line and she won’t tolerate any nonsense.”
The second is a male “American Attacker, a specialist with a remarkably sharp mind when it comes to tactical operations. He has seen the worst in Kabul. Despite it all, he fell in love with the city. Legendary for his surgical precision, he remains an enigma within Rainbow Six.” In the picture he’s holding a blowtorch, which, if it can be used on metal panels, suggests he will be a new hard breacher for Rainbow Six Siege.
As for the rework of Hereford Base, Ubisoft say they’re making “many adjustments” in order to “raise the bar for competitive play.” They also say there is now a “high chance of rain” on the map, which will be a neat addition that will certainly make the map feel different. However, Ubisoft does not make it clear whether they are outright replacing the map or if the rework will be available separately. We suspect the former, however.
The Rainbow Six Siege Year 3 Season 3 drop called Operation Grim Sky will get a proper reveal during the first Six Major in Paris that will take place from August 17 to 19, which will also be streamed on the Rainbow Six Siege official Twitch channel. It’s a shame that the 1,000 or so cheaters banned from the game won’t be able to see it.
